PTEC Coalition BenefitsThe Physics Teacher Education Coalition (PTEC) is an association of institutions of higher education dedicated to the improvement of physics and physical science teacher education. This effort, sponsored by the American Physical Society (APS), American Institute of Physics (AIP), and American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT), covers a broad spectrum of education research-based reforms and initiatives. We understand that the future of both an educated, scientifically literate population and of physics as a discipline is dependent on high quality teachers. Our hope is that through the Coalition, members can share innovative approaches, learn from national leaders in the field, and help raise the level of understanding of importance of physics and physical science teacher preparation nationwide. To help build collective expertise of this group, PTEC will facilitate exchange of ideas and the promotion of teacher preparation broadly within the physics community. Looking ahead, it is hoped that faculty at Coalition member institutions will help to lead improvements in teacher education and will function as change agents within their respective institutions and the physics community at large. Further coalition membership benefits include limited financial support for attending our national conference on physics and physical science teacher education, and for regional and topical workshops. Please visit the How to Join page in order to learn more about the coalition and application process. |
