Diversity in Physics Education: Preparing Teachers for the 21st Century


The 2010 PTEC Conference will be held in conjunction with the American Physical Society "April" Meeting and the American Association of Physics Teachers Winter Meeting.

The conference will feature parallel 90-minute workshop tracks with themes of:


Plenary speakers


Special Announcement

The findings and recommendations of the National Task Force on Teacher Education in Physics will be released at this conference.

Poster Session

There will be a contributed poster session on the evening of Friday, February 12. Titles and abstracts due by February 5, 2010 to Gabe Popkin.

Pre-Conference Workshop

There will be a pre-conference workshop on the afternoon of Thursday, February 11th, on the topic of Funding for Teacher Education Programs. More information

Travel Support for Minority-Serving Institutions

A limited number of travel stipends of up to $800 are available for faculty members from minority-serving institutions to attend the conference. The stipends can cover travel, housing, and meal costs. To apply for a stipend, email Monica Plisch at plisch@aps.org

Breakfast and lunch will be provided for all registrants on both days.

Saturday, February 13, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The registration deadline is Friday, February 5, 2010.

PTEC is offering a rate of $150 for members of chemistry departments that have endorsed the American Chemical Society statement on the pre-service education of pre-college chemistry teachers.
